Shown in the images are my first draft at a haiku advent calendar, but I've taken watercolor classes since then! The true joy in these calendars is the art of brevity and patience. Haiku is a distilled form of poetry, blending elements of nature, philosophy, and often humor to express the human condition in just three lines. The blend of short, tight poems and the self control to wait each day to read a new one is a practice in savoring. As we head into the narrowing tunnel of minimal daylight before coming back to life, this savoring is its own metaphor.
