Writing club memberships have started rolling in

In case you missed it, I started a writing club.

At my retreats, my classes, and in my coaching sessions the same idea pops up from the writers I support. They want continued support, but not so specific, not so boxed into a timeframe, not so expensive. They want community, other writers. Feedback, support, temp checks on what is working or how to sell their work.

I'd been mulling over how to make that happen for a while now, in a way that participants can have accountability without too much extra work, give and receive feedback without too much extra time from them or me, and at a cost that is sustainable for the long haul.

I joined ADHD Big Brother for a while, and stepped away temporarily because my needs changed, but have missed that space (and so am rejoining). While there, I learned a fair amount about what makes a successful online community. Then, while teaching classes with Molly Hurford, I learned more about the potential of Podia we were not yet tapping.

In between formulating the idea and launching the platform, I got very sick, started teaching more in-person classes, and accepted the role of Executive Director at Missoula Mountain Bike Coalition. So, lots of free time. But once I decide something is worth doing, I find a way to make it happen.

And today, my first sign-up came through. An incredible writer with big dreams, a compelling manuscript idea, and a hell of a book under her belt already. I was just wrapping up my shift as a cashier, feeling exhausted and mildly defeated, and this sign-up was a jolt of energy.

It's working!, I thought. I built it, and people are coming!

This person messaged me once I posted in my newsletter, with questions about how it worked and what to expect. I figured my answers (no, there won't be weekly or monthly live calls, at least not until enough people sign up that it can be worth it) would mean she didn't want to sign up, but my vision is clear: The way I want to show up is consistent, not boundless.

So what questions do you have? I might not have the "right" answer for you, but it might be what finally clicks for you the way it's clicked for me and my first Club official member.
